The blind was patented for the first time in 1812. The purpose of this design was that the view to the outside was possible without a view to the interior of the room. The principle of adjustable blades has not changed until now.

Only the technology has been improved.

Today blinds are made from different materials. The most common are aluminium, wood or bamboo and plastic.

It can be installed outside or inside.

Exterior shutters are called as external blinds or venetian blinds. The difference between a Venetian blind and an external blind is in the side guide and the slats. Venetian blinds are made with side rails and they have flared lamellars. Venetian blinds are controlled by a cable guide.

Blinds which are inlying are known as internal blinds or aluminium blinds. The best blinds are produced in the Far East and are usually made of plastic. Higher-quality blinds are made of aluminium or wood.

The slat widths ranging from 16mm, 25mm, 35mm up to 50mm. The most common are the 25mm and 50mm blinds.

Venetian blinds can be operated in different ways:

The pull cord is fitted with blinds up to 35mm wide slats. Pulling on the cord allows the blinds to open and to close. With the wand, the lamellars can be rotated, and the incidence of light are controlled.

The endless chain and continues line is fitted with blinds up to 50mm wide slats. Pulling on the chain, lowers the blinds. With a counter-movement, the lamellars are rotated.

The same goes for the crank handle. Also the crank is responsible for the complete function of the blind.

The most comfortable operation is the engine operation. By pressing a button, the blinds are moving to the desired position. A big advantage is, that the motor-driven blinds have many options for expansion.

 A sun and wind sensor, a timer or control group. There are almost unlimited possibilities.
